Aboriginal Prophecies: Music and Culture
Create a symphony based on Aboriginal prophecies.
Dawn Sillaby-Smith teaches her native and non-native students about Aboriginal prophecies. She works with community artist Glenn Marais to help students express the prophecies through music. Glenn teaches students how to use native instruments and work together to compose a symphony. Dawn explains how having the help of community artists provides differentiated learning experiences for her students. She discusses how teaching Aboriginal culture can be an empowering experience for her native students and shares how working with community artists helps native and non-native students work together to create music.

- How does this project integrate music history, culture and self-identity?
