Acting Out Books: Plan Revise Perform

Use drama to express knowledge of literature.

Seventh graders in Nadine Scott's drama class create performances to express their understanding of a picture book. Students work in groups to create scripts, props, and backgrounds for their performances. The groups present their work to each other and provide feedback. Nadine and the students co-create success criteria to use when evaluating the performances.

Thought Starters

  • How did Ms. Scott engage students in all stages of the production process?
  • What do students learn by reflecting on their work?
  • How could you use drama to enrich students' understanding of literature?
